The 6-day Machame Route is often called the “Whiskey Route” for its challenging yet rewarding trek. This scenic route takes you through varied landscapes, from lush rainforest to alpine desert, offering breathtaking views throughout the journey. It’s perfect for adventurers who are comfortable with a faster-paced itinerary. As with all our climbs, this is a private trek, tailored to your group size. While the climb itself lasts 6 days on the mountain, the full itinerary is 8 days, including arrival and departure.

DETAILED ITINERARY
Welcome to Tanzania! Arrive into Kilimanjaro Airport and spend the night in Arusha preparing for your adventure. Relax and get ready for the exciting days ahead.
Accommodation – Venus Premier Hotel
Travel from your hotel in Arusha to the Machame Gate, where you’ll register and have lunch. Begin your climb through the rainforest, enjoying the fresh air and unique wildlife as you head to the first stop on the trail. Spend the night at Machame Camp.
Trek from Machame Camp to Shira Camp as the scenery changes from forest to open moorlands. After lunch, take a short hike higher up to help your body get used to the altitude. Spend the night at Shira Camp.
Climb higher as you pass landmarks like the Lava Tower. Then descend slightly to Barranco Camp, giving your body time to adapt. Later, go for another short hike to further prepare for the higher altitudes. Spend the night at Barranco Camp.
Begin the day by climbing the iconic Barranco Wall, then continue on to Karanga Camp, where you’ll have lunch. Afterward, proceed to Barafu Camp, the final stop before your summit push. Spend the night at Barafu Camp.
Begin your climb to the summit just after midnight under the stars. Reach Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, and enjoy the incredible views at sunrise. Afterward, descend back to Barafu Camp for a rest, then continue down to Millenium Camp. Spend the night at Millenium Camp.
Complete the last leg of your descent to Mweka Gate. Celebrate your achievement and return to Arusha for some well-deserved rest. Spend the night at Venus Premier Hotel, Arusha.

Transfer from Arusha to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your flight home, ending your unforgettable Kilimanjaro adventure. You can consider extending onto a magical Tanzania safari experience or rejuvenating on the sandy beaches of Zanzibar!

Excellent trip at a nice price. My wife and I went on a private, five-day guided tour staying in lodges, during an off season, just before Christmas. We had a great safari trip with our guide/Driver Dickson, he has a wide knowledge and can answer all your questions. As well our chef cook Samsun prepared everyday delicious food for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
